How to Find Dance Classes That Teach Leading and Following

If you want to learn both dance roles, look beyond a class title and ask how the teaching works. A course can welcome different role choices without actually explaining both skills in equal detail. Your useful questions concern demonstrations, practice structure and feedback. RoleRotation Academy offers an online place to explore dance learning with attention to leading, following and role rotation.

How can I find a teacher who teaches both roles?

Look for an explicit commitment to teaching leading and following, then ask how the class is structured. RoleRotation has a public teacher directory, and the Academy offers online learning. Check current local arrangements and choose an option that explains both skills clearly.

Check whether a course fits your goals

1. Look for an explicit explanation of leading and following in the course material. Ask whether both are taught from the beginning, whether demonstrations cover each perspective and how the progression is organised.
2. Distinguish partner changes from role changes. A class might rotate partners while each person keeps one role. If you want to study both, ask how and when you can practise the other role.
3. Check what level the course assumes in each role. Experience leading does not automatically replace beginner following foundations, and the reverse also applies. Choose material that lets you learn the missing skills clearly.
4. For online learning, inspect the public course information and plan how you will practise. Decide which tasks you can explore solo, when you can work with a partner and what feedback opportunities suit your needs.

Choose a course for what it helps you learn, not simply for how advanced its demonstration looks. Begin with the public Academy information, compare it with your current goals and select a manageable first practice task.
